I remember the residential field trip with university to Malta in 2015. My study was Tourism so we travelled around the island visiting various and diverse towns and cities.
One particular day was dedicated to visiting the island of Gozo. We took a morning boat trip and a stereotypical sightseeing bus tour. We stopped off in only a couple of locations, but one that really stood out was the visit to the Azure Window (blue window).
We were sharing our trip with geography students from the university who I’m sure appreciated the complexity and confusion of the rock formation. Being an enthused ‘picture-taker’ at this point, I too was astonished to see something so beautiful.
As of the 8th March 2017, the Azure Window collapsed into the sea causing heartbreak for locals and tourists alike. Studies in 2013 suggested that the erosion was inevitable so i consider myself fortunate that i had the opportunity to visit one of the renowned and world famous rock formations and tourist attractions.
